Elite Women's Football (EFD) was founded in 1978 and is an interest organization for the two highest leagues in women's football in Sweden, OBOS Damallsvenskan and Elitettan. Together, EFD and the associations run interest issues related to women's elite football. EFD currently consists of a total of 28 member associations, of which 14 are in OBOS Damallsvenskan and 14 in Elitettan.

We are growing

Swedish women's elite football has taken major development steps in recent years, both sportingly, commercially and organizationally.

The world with the success during the 2022 European Championship is looking bright for the future, where UEFA, according to a published report, predicts a six-fold growth in turnover over the next 10 years. According to a corresponding report converted to OBOS Damallsvenskan, the growth potential is estimated at 4.2 times compared to today's situation.

2022 was the year when football and society were to normalize after the pandemic. A completely "normal" football season with an audience in place and a new broadcasting partner NENT with professional productions.

OBOS Damallsvenskan is ranked among the top leagues in Europe after Germany, France, England and Spain. As the youngest league in Swedish football, formed in 2013, Elitettan has taken a big step in terms of organization and local support.

We have a new strategy!

2023 is the year we launch our new strategy for women's elite football that will guide us until 2027. The work has been ongoing since autumn 2021 and has involved inspirational lectures from various stakeholders and three physical meetings where the chairman and selected people from the EFD clubs met under the leadership of Ola Odebäck at Startpoint Advisory.

The strategy has been developed and anchored in the movement, will be formally decided in connection with the annual meeting and forms the basis for the upcoming operating period starting in 2023.

Vision:

"We have professional club development with world-class player development. Through increased professionalism, commercialization and an engaged audience, we are a role model in Europe”
